Sarah Gerlt

Assistant Director

Sarah has always loved to sing. Throughout her childhood, she enjoyed singing at home and performing in choruses and musical theater. Sarah attended Berwick Academy in South Berwick, Maine. She began voice lessons there at the age of 12 and continued her study of music throughout high school with voice and piano, choral singing, and musical theater performance. She also gained experience as a church soloist and as a singer and soloist with local community choruses. Sarah gave a full senior recital as a culmination of her vocal performance study at Berwick.

Sarah went on to receive her bachelor's degree from Wheaton College in Norton, MA with a major in music. While at Wheaton, Sarah continued her study of voice and piano and began learning organ and choral conducting. She was the recipient of the Garabedian Prize in Music, the Helen Zoe Duncan Prize in Piano Performance and twice received the Ellalou Dimmock Vocal Performance Award. Sarah sang with the a cappella group, the Wheaton Whims, and served as their musical director for a year. She sang with the Wheaton Chorale and was a founding member of the Wheaton Chamber Singers. Sarah served as assistant conductor of the chorale and chamber singers during her senior year. This included a concert tour of Italy, which was one of the most thrilling experiences of her musical life. After Wheaton, Sarah continued to sing in the Boston area in church choirs and with the Cambridge Chamber Singers. She has earned a masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology from the MGH Institute of Health Professions, which allowed her to use her knowledge of voice in new ways.

She is now thrilled to call herself a Woman of Note!
